SCVNGR Gets Coke, Foursquare, Pepsi


SCVNGR the location based app that has people do activities and challenges rather than just “checking in” announced today, a strategic partnership with Coca-Cola, and Simon Malls.

Starting November 26th SCVNGR users who check in at certain Simon Mall properties will have the opportunity to participate in fun challenges. Within the SCVNGR app there are activities, challenges and rewards.

At a typical SCVNGR location after someone finds a place to check in there are options to “check in”, “social check in”, write something or post a pic. At partner businesses such as Hot Topic and Journeys, SCVNGR players can look for certain things to photograph or QR codes to scan.

This unique marketing partnership engages SCVNGR users by having them do activities like hi 5ing random people (more points if they are drinking a Coke), and looking for Coke surprises across the mall.

SCVNGR CEO, Seth Priebatsch (who started his first company at age 13) says that the future of location based apps relies on story-telling and experiences and not just “checking in”
