At his keynote earlier in the day at the IFA show, Google CEO, Eric Schmidt, gave us the news everyone has been waiting for. Google TV will be deubting this fall on a limited variety of devices for which Google has partnered with. Google TV, the answer to Apples, Apple TV, was first mentioned at the Google I/O conference back in the spring. We learned over time that Google was partnering with Sony for the release of Google TVs, and Direct TV for integrated Satellite boxes. There are more vendor partnerships in the works.
Schmidt told a standing room only crowd that there would be a myraid of applications and partners. The service will offer downloads and rentals of content, access to email and social networking and hopefully cloud based storage. There was more Google/Android TV news throughout the earlier part of the IFA convention including People of Lava’s “Android TV” and mention from Samsung that they are evaluating adding Android to it’s line of high end televisions. Samsung of course has a vast and growing knowledge of the platform having debuted the Galaxy Tab last week at the IFA convention and having been developing Android powered handsets since early 2009.
